ON THE AIR SINCE 2019
We are Studio21 Alcaraz, a group of high school and university students, as well as teachers. Since 2019, we've been developing this project, in which learning and improving ourselves every day has led us to great achievements such as the recommissioning of the local radio station of Alcaraz. Currently, we continue pushing our limits, by developing a science project with the objective of breaking the digital gap and bring science closer to our area.

Our history
2019 - When it all started
It was late 2019 when we started to use mixers, microphones, DJ software... these were terms we were not very used to hearing. It was only a matter of time for us to get to know and understand these devices, and then to start uploading our first programs to the internet. At that time we did not plan to broadcast live. In fact, we didn't even know what it was. On February 20, 2020, we uploaded our first episode in podcast format.
You know that feeling of nostalgia and embarrassment at the same time? That's how we feel as we write these lines.
2020 - COVID-19 and the new beggining
As we all already know, COVID-19 changed our lives. Quarantine, masks and aforum restrictions are measures we had to live with up until recently. We had to adapt to the circumstances: Online classes, videocalls, staying at home... Sadly, we didn't know how to adjust and were forced to leave the proyect on hiatus while the whole pandemic situation was being resolved.
Everything would come back to Its place at the end of 2020, with the 2020-21 classes start. Without leaving behind the PlayStation 2 Singstar microphones, we started to make interviews at highschool, inviting outsiders to participate in the waves. Just like that, we would get visits from the town hall, Juan Parras, "Nono"...
2021 - A year in which we outdid ourselves

After a long and hard pandemic year, health measures weren't allowing the yearly celebration of the "Mayos" yet, just like It had been every previous April 30th in the Main Square. That's exactly why we found ourselves motivated to do our very first video broadcast, which was in fact, a indisputable success.
From here on, everything would go smoothly and the only thing left would be to learn and improve. Even if we didn't have access to the best resources, we had always tried to make the best out of what we did have. Sometimes, knowledge is better than resources.
Even if our scientific proyect had already gotten wings, we also want to point out our June 2021 achievements. From our highscool's terrace roof we successfully received signal from the International Space Station (ISS), meaning we enjoyed activities such as receiving pictures we were able to decode, or even understand the contact that had place at that very moment between the ISS and a school. That was the first time we worked in UHF band. We had to put our brains to work since our antennas weren't valid for said frequency band.
Here is the people that participated in the activities during that days. The pictures were received from multiple devices. Decoding was crucial, since with it we discovered, among other things, that some decoders gave us a better image quality than others.
This activities were followed through summer, and thanks to them alcaraceños had the opportunity to take part on the radio party, which was a total success.
All this would be followed by one our greatest productions till date: The 2021 Fair Documentary. It was a feature film that took hours and hours of hard work, but it was all worth it in the end and we alcaraceños enjoyed it profoundly.
Shortly after our first big broadcast would take place. We live streamed the “Grand Fondo 2021” with a technical deployment that was once again, a complete success. Sadly, the emission was taken down due to copyright issues and It is not currently viewable.
This was an amazing experience for us: We had the chance to learn and familiarize ourselves with everything needed for a multi-camera broadcast to take place.
From here on, a difficult year started for us: We had to prepare to take the EvAU (Test needed in order to apply to any college career in Spain)
2022 - A hard era that ended up paying back
2022 has been a hard and difficult year for us. Given the stressful nature of our last highschool year we barely could make any programme within our recess times. What we did afford to do was the broadcast of the “Mayos”, preparing It according to the importance of the event.
After our college entrance tests, we can gladly say every group member has ended up studying their desired career, following all the paths we wanted. At the 2022/23 start of the school year, the new crew took over the Alcaraz Studio21 section at the IES Pedro Simón Abril.
With a team at highschool and one as well at University, we are more than sure that a new exciting era is waiting for us.
